Amid the Green

A small moment that could easily go unnoticed: amid the greenery, a beetle glows an intense blue and, for an instant, becomes the focal point of its surroundings.

Based on a photograph I took, this work brings together photography and painting. The painterly treatment and the use of metallic acrylic accentuate the beetle’s shimmering blue. Its appearance changes with the light, making it seem almost like a tiny jewel.

“Amid the Green” is about looking closely – and discovering beauty where we least expect it.
